Lisa Benson is the founder/CEO of Winning Truths, International, LLC.

As a diversity, inclusion and anti-racism advocate and trainer, her mission is to eradicate racial ignorance through education and help create better spaces for everyone.

Lisa is fueled by personal experiences with workplace bias, genuine curiosities and a hunger for change.

Lisa triumphed in federal court over a national media company in 2019. She was wrongfully terminated for sharing an article on Facebook about “white tears.”

Jurors unanimously found E.W. Scripps guilty of retaliation. Prior to her termination, Lisa courageously filed a discrimination complaint against the company. She’d been with the same company for more than a decade with zero opportunities for growth.

The mother of two knew that filing a grievance against E.W. Scripps would be an uphill battle and could end her television career. But her passion and commitment to accountability, inclusion, and truth wouldn’t let her continue going along with the status quo.

Lisa’s championing for truth persona was birthed as she pursued her journalism degree at Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, GA. Her understanding of racial hierarchies, diversity and racial equity was expanded through her studies at Cornell University.

While in Atlanta, Lisa worked for CNN and WGNX-CBS46. From there, the St. Louis native went onto to work in newsrooms in Missouri and Illinois before putting down roots In Kansas City.

Lisa’s lived experiences with racial injustice, education and anti-racism training and her victory in federal court uniquely positioned her to be an advocate for racial equity and education in corporate America. She uses her background to help employees engage in their work culture while helping corporations protect their bottom line.

When Lisa’s not speaking or holding workshops she enjoys reading, writing and traveling with her family and friends.
